Four years ago, thirteen-year-old Menachem Mendel Moshiach passed away, just a few weeks shy of his eighth grade graduation. Today, Gimmel Tammuz, his family and Crown Heights residents welcomed a new Sefer Torah which was written in his memory.
CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — As night fell, the steady stream of people coming to visit the Ohel, the Rebbe’s resting place, increased. In the tent, Yungelite; Bochurim; Anash and Shluchim were seen learning and Farbrenging together, and the occasional head was down on the table asleep.
Tens of thousands of people from around the world and all walks of life will converge on the Ohel tonight and tomorrow, marking Gimmel Tammuz the day of the passing of the Rebbe. Feverish preparations are underway to accommodate the masses.
One month prior to Gimmel Tammuz, the Shluchim of the Rabbinical College of Australia and New Zealand - Yeshivah Gedolah – Melbourne - initiated a Mivtzah to encourage the students to prepare for this auspicious day.

On Chof Ches Sivan, the students and teachers of Cheder Menachem were treated to a special privilege. Rabbi Boruch Shlomo Cunin Head Shliach of California came to the Cheder and brought with him a wooden trunk which carried some of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin's luggage on the ship which brought them to America on Chof Ches Sivan 5701 - 70 years ago!
Sitting on the steps of Lubavitcher Yeshiva on Crown Street, the students of the second grade enjoyed a year end barbeque, complete with hotdogs and soda.
