CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Firefighters battled a stubborn blaze early this morning which quickly spread into the walls of the house, forcing firefighters to rip them open in order to properly douse it.

A police officer from Cyprus, working to fight the fire in the Carmel, told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday afternoon that 80% of the blaze has been contained, as three helicopters from Switzerland prepared to land in the area.

The ZAKA rescue organization says at least 40 people died in the fire on the Carmel Mountain Thursday.
